Reverend Jhon F. Guarnizo was born in Villavicencio, Colombia on March 16, 1970 to Manuel and Esther Olave. He graduated from National High School "Nicolas Esguerra" in Bogotá – Colombia. He attended the "La Sabana" University and received a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 1992. While serving in the Colombian Army working as a journalist, he was Director of a Radio Army station and Public Relations in Bucaramanga, Colombia from 1992 -1995. He began his ecclesiastical studies at the Major Seminary in Bogotá and then at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was ordained to the Priesthood on May 17, 2003 for the Diocese of St. Augustine – Florida. Reverend Jhon Guarnizo’s first assignment was Parochial Vicar of Sacred Heart Parish, Green Cove Springs; and is presently serving as Parochial Vicar of Assumption Parish, Jacksonville. His appointments are Director of Multicultural Minister, Member of the Liturgical Commission, Member of the Presbyteral Council of the Diocese, Founder of the Clinic "The Way" [provides health assistance for immigrants – Green Cove Springs], Journalist of the radio program "The Paisano a Paisano for almost 2 years "Latino Hits [Social-Community Program].
